Cem Duna

Ambassador Duna joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1969 and has served at diplomatic posts in various major cities. He served as the Foreign Affairs Advisor to the then Prime Minister of Turkey, Turgut Özal from 1985-1988. He was appointed as the Director General of Turkish Radio and Television from 1988-1989 and was Ambassador and Permanent Delegate of Turkey to the United Nations Offices in Geneva, where he was also the Chief Negotiator in the GATT Uruguay Round multilateral trade negotiations between 1989 and 1991. He was appointed Ambassador and Permanent Delegate to the European Union in 1991 and served until 1995, during which time negotiations for the formation of the Customs Union were conducted under his guidance.

Ambassador Duna is presently the Chairman of AB Consultancy and Investment Services, a company specializing in EU affairs, foreign direct investments into Turkey, and Turkish investments abroad. He was a member of the Board of the Turkish Industrials and Businessman Association between 2001-2007, then he became the member of the high consultative assembly of the same organization. He was also Vice Chairman of the World Wildlife Foundation’s Turkish Chapter and President of the External Relations Committee of the Turkish Football Federation. Amb. Duna was also a member of the Executive Board of the Turkish-British Business Council of the Foreign Economic Relations Board.

He graduated from the Political Sciences Faculty of the University of Ankara and has a Masters degree on the Theory of Economic Integration from the University of Amsterdam.

Amb. Duna has been one of the founding members of the Greek Turkish Forum.
