Daryal Batıbay

Retired Ambassador Batıbay graduated from the Faculty of Political Sciences of Ankara University in 1968. He also received his Master degree from Woodrow Wilson School of Princeton University.

Ambassador Batıbay joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1969. During his service at the MFA, he served in New York, Khartoum, Brussels, the Ministry in Ankara, Moscow, Washington D.C. From 1993 to1994, he also served as the Chief Advisor to Prime Minister Tansu Çiller. In 1995, he was appointed as an Ambassador to Croatia in which he served until 1998. From 1998 to 2001, he was an Ambassador to People’s Republic of China. Moreover, he was appointed as Turkish Permanent Representative to the Council of Europe in 2004 and served until 2011.

Besides his service in the MFA, he was a lecturer at the Department of International Relations and Public Administration in Middle East Technical University from 2001 to 2004.
