Evanthis Hatzivassiliou was born in 1966. He graduated from the Law School of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in 1987, and received his MA and his Ph.D. in International History from the London School of Economics in 1989 and 1992 respectively. He currently serves as Professor (Post-war History) at the Department of History of the University of Athens. He is a member of the Academic Committee of the Foundation of the Greek Parliament; the chairman of the Academic Council of the Constantinos Karamanlis Institute for Democracy; and a Fellow of the Eleftherios Venizelos Foundation. He edits the history page of the Sunday edition of the newspaper Kathimerini. He joined the Greek Turkish Forum in 2003.
