İpek Borman

Borman is an International Relations expert and academic, who currently serves as the Secretary-General of Global Policies Centre (GLOPOL) – an independent, free think-tank based in Nicosia-Cyprus.

Born and raised in the northern part of Nicosia, Borman completed her undergraduate studies at Bilkent University, Ankara (1999), graduate studies at Georgetown University, Washington D.C. (2001), and received her Ph.D. in International Relations from Middle East Technical University, Ankara (2012).

She worked both full-time and part-time as a senior instructor at various universities in North Cyprus between the years 2001 and 2015.

She worked as Foreign Affairs Expert/Consultant at the Turkish Cypriot Presidential Office between 2005-2010 as well as between 2015-2020. During the comprehensive negotiations for the settlement of the Cyprus problem, she served as a member of the Turkish Cypriot negotiation team between September 2008-April 2010 and between June 2015-July 2017.

She advocates for and actively contributes to civil society initiatives concerning peace, reconciliation and gender equality.
